Andy is a prolific photographer with roots in the UK. While attending university in Wales, he heard about the opportunity to work at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck NY. He joined the seasonal staff program in 1997, and has lived in the Hudson Valley ever since.
Andy started out with his digital camera capturing life in the Hudson Valley and excelled at showing both the beauty of its people and the natural world. In 2009 he began developing his talent in HDR photography, and applied that to one of favorite subjects, abandonment. In 2012-2013, Andy co-produced Thou Art, a pop-up gallery featuring multiple artists in Kingston, NY. He co-runs Abandoned Hudson Valley, which includes both a community on Facebook and a website that celebrates the crumbling and forgotten structures of the Hudson Valley and beyond. He is an O+ alumni and had a hand in painting the Bill Murray wall here in Keegan Ales.
Picture of the Day is Andy’s longest-running project to date. He posts a picture from every day going back to January 1, 2003. His other artistic pursuits include stenciling, screen printing, and murals, but photography remains his true passion.
In late 2015, Andy discovered his love for aerial photography, allowing us to see the everyday both through his unique eye and from an unusual viewpoint. He is excited to share these works with the patrons of Keegan Ales, and welcomes all comments and inquiries.
All images in this show were taken with a drone in and around Hudson, NY.
